About Gardening at MCG.... We are a non-profit organization managed by volunteer gardeners. The gardens, open to Dunn County residents, are perfect for those of you new to gardening as we have tools to use and experienced gardeners available to give advice. Our steady growth over the past 8 years enabled MCG to build a shed, bring water from the city main to outlets in the garden and develop a fruit tree orchard which also includes rhubarb, raspberry and asparagus patches. Our two acre garden contains 100 plots of 25'x 20' or 500 square feet . Half plots are popular for people new to gardening. The main garden is tilled in the spring then staked before opening day which is around the first week of May. Full plot rent for a season is - $ 30.00 Half plot rent is - $15
What is included in rent? - Fence to keep deer and rabbits out - Water ... 5 posts with 2 spigots on each and ample hose - Variety of tools both hand tools and long handle - Harvest and help manage the common gardens - rhubarb and asparagus patches available 2018 - Raspberries are managed by a committee of gardeners. There will be openings in 2018. - Fruit trees were planted in 2016. - Being a member of the garden community - Have a voice in garden management at monthly meetings - Mentoring program will be available for those new to gardening
Please read the Rules found in the application packet. We garden using organic methods. Information will be available on OMRI rated organic products at garden meetings and posted in the shed.
